I genuinely am thrilled to be taking the reins at Chelsea Digital and moving forward into a hugely exciting new marketing era. Having been in the digital marketing industry for twenty-eight years now (yes, it has been around for that long) I’ve seen exciting changes before. But nothing that has quite impacted, not just digital marketing, but everything around us. Artificial Intelligence (AI) in particular the field known as Machine Learning (ML), is transforming the entire digital world. Having said that, I honestly believe now is the time to start and phase out the obligatory use of the word “digital” as a kind of prefix.


We’re not digital marketers anymore – we’re marketing in a digital world. I’m highlighting that part because, as some people seem to view what we do, we’re not sending data to devices. We’re human beings facilitating other human beings (your customers) with relevant and timely marketing messaging. The art and science of marketing remain the same. However, the technology that now powers it is evolving at superspeed.


Supersmart technology requires supersmart human beings to manage and maximize complex campaigns for optimal performance. Currently, the skillset is a rare new breed of combined brand and performance marketer meets data analyst. But we can keep that simple and just say “marketer” albeit the word “modern” could nicely precede that for a totally accurate description, I guess.


Chelsea Digital is now a totally modern marketing agency. The business model is designed to take advantage of “work from anywhere” experts so that we don’t need to have everyone in the company occupying hugely expensive bIg city office suites. Nor do we need to employ hundreds of people as many large agencies do. The modern workforce is made up from a combination of full-time employees, long-term contractors and hourly based specialists from technology experts to legal representatives and accountants. And this model provides a method of adjusting pricing accordingly passing along savings to clients without affecting service or results.
